Election Workshop
In partnership with the Lebanese Transparency Association (LTA), LCPS convened three roundtables on Transparency Accountability and Integrity of the Lebanese Parliamentary Elections. The roundtables gathered election experts, members of the media, academics, and activists in a facilitated forum to discuss, 1) Election Monitoring; 2) Election Spending & Media Coverage; and 3) Accountability of Political Platforms. The recommendations from the roundtables were announced at three separate press conferences and published in the local press. The recommendations were further discussed in a national workshop held in 28-29 July 2005. The workshop was opened to a broad range of professionals involved in elections, including MPs, cabinet members, foreign ambassadors and election experts. A report including a plan of action will be compiled and published soon and will be made available on the web site. A follow-up process will be decided upon to encourage the implementation of workshop recommendations.
